Nain Old Bazaar

Nain Old Bazaar also referred to as the Historic Bazaar, was once a bustling hub within the city.

History

The bazaar’s rich history dates back to the Ilkhanid era in the 13th century, experiencing its prime during the Safavid era. Despite its former glory, the Old Bazar of Nain now stands nearly abandoned.

Description

In the heart of the city’s historic district, Nain’s old bazaar stretches over 340 meters with a gracefully curved layout and two intersecting crossroads. The bazaar’s elegant domed architecture is particularly enchanting when illuminated at night. With a total of 170 shops, this bazaar was once the thriving epicenter of commerce for the city.

Previously, the Nain Old Bazar boasted a grand caravanserai, though only its entrance remains today. In ancient times, Nain and its bazaar served as a vital stop for caravans and travelers, providing essential provisions before continuing their journeys.

Despite its current state of quasi-abandonment and the presence of only a handful of active vendors, the Old Bazar exudes a serene and charming ambiance. A stroll through its historic alleys offers a unique and rewarding experience.

Visiting Hours

Open to the public, Nain Old Bazar welcomes visitors at any time. To fully appreciate the remaining open shops, daytime exploration is recommended.
