Archaeological Site of Susa
The Archaeological Site of Susa covers a wide area in the city of Susa, including buildings and architectural structures from different eras. Susa is one of the oldest known settlements in the world, dating back to 7000 BC. Susa was one of the most important ancient cities of Iran and the world, and archaeological activities continue there. The Susa historical site was included in the world register at the 39th meeting of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO in July 2015. The cultural heritage of Susa includes sightseeing places such as Shapur Palace, Apadana Palace, Eastern Gate, Hadish Palace, Achaemenid village, Susa Grand Mosque, Islamic period buildings, Acropolis hills, and French castle. This area is also among the national monuments of Iran.
