The Archaeological Site of Susa spans a vast area in the ancient city of Susa, showcasing architectural and cultural remains from various historical periods. Susa is considered one of the oldest known settlements in the world, with evidence of habitation dating back to around 7000 BC.
As one of the most significant ancient cities of Iran—and indeed the world—Susa holds immense archaeological value. Excavations and research continue to this day, revealing layers of rich history.
In July 2015, the site was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List during the 39th session of the World Heritage Committee.
