Architecture

Qavam House and Zainat Al-Mulk House form the Qavam complex and an underground tunnel connects them. A tunnel that was used in the past for the safe passage of the residents of the house. Of Iranian architecture in this house, we can mention the interior and exterior, vestibule, pond, etc. The main building of Zint Al-Mulk house is two-story and has more than 20 rooms decorated with paintings of flowers and plants, animals and birds, and the art of plastering, mirror work, carving, stone carving, and other decorations. The roofs of this house are made of wood. All the rooms except the eastern part are connected and reach the last room of the western part. The sash windows are another beauty of the rooms in the main mansion; Windows that let the sunlight shine on the walls and create a beautiful space. In the rooms, there are pictures of European women and children, which show us the influence of Qajar architecture on European culture, architecture, and art. The inner house of Zinat Al-Mulk has a long main axis and the mirror hall can be seen on the west side of it. The summer hall or Shah neshin is also placed under the mirror hall and the bricks are decorated. The only roof decorated with wood and mirror work was the porch of the eastern part of the building, which was destroyed due to fire and cannot be repaired. The five pillars of the southern part of the house of Zinat Al-Mulk are also wooden, and resistant fibers are used around them to prevent termite penetration. In the past, Zinat Al-Mulk’s house had an armory and a food storage area. Because the owners of the house were the governor of Shiraz and they had a group of soldiers at their disposal. It has four entrances from the courtyard to the basement, two of which are blocked with stones. In 1380 SH, the basement of Zinat Al-Mulk House was turned into a Persian history museum, which is known as the Madame Tussauds Museum of Iran. The statue of Fars nomads is one of the most attractive parts of the Fars History Museum. In addition, in a corner of the museum, you can see the Sassanid Shapur I in a sitting position in long clothes and court clothes, holding one hand behind his back.
