Description
Hamdollah Mostofi, a luminary in Iranian literature, history, and geography, left an indelible mark during the Ilkhanate era in the 14th century. He remains a cherished figure in the annals of Qazvin’s history.
Situated within one of Qazvin’s oldest neighborhoods, the Tomb of Hamdollah Mostofi is ensconced within a serene garden spanning 280 square meters, with the tower itself occupying 40 square meters. The architectural design of the tomb is a testament to the artistry of its time. Initially square, it transitions into an octagonal structure leading up to a striking blue dome adorned with intricate tile work, a hallmark of the Ilkhanate era. Such architectural finesse was remarkable for its era.
Visitors are welcomed by a decorated wooden door that leads to a chamber located below ground level. This chamber houses the tomb of the historian and his literary works, surrounded by captivating tile work and an intricately designed ceiling. In this verdant oasis, you’ll also find an Ab-anbar (water reservoir), two additional rooms, and two basements, all contributing to the rich historical tapestry of the site.
