Dezful

Located in the plains of Khuzestan province and on the middle slopes of Zagros, Dezful is a city with a rich history dating back to the Elam and Achaemenid civilizations. The city boasts remnants of the Sassanid period, including the old bridge and Gundeshapur University. The primary river running through the heart of the city is the Dez. History: Did you know that Dezful, located in the Zagros mountain range, has a rich history dating back to the Sasanian era? Its settlement can be traced back 5,000 years. As one of the oldest cities in Khuzestan province, Dezful was possibly the center of the kingdom of Elam, with the city of Awan located within its borders. One of the city's most notable historical landmarks is the Dezful Bridge, built during the reign of Shapur I of Sassanid by Roman prisoners of war. In addition, the city boasts several impressive historical houses, such as the Tizno House, with unique and stunning architecture that showcases its ancient past.
