Formerly characterized by its high mineral content, Shourabil Lake once lacked fish and remained unfrozen even during the coldest winters. Yet, recent developments, including the influx of river water and the subsequent reduction in salinity, have facilitated the growth of fish populations and even led to some surface freezing during winter.
