Strategically positioned along the Silk Road, Qazvin was a vital trade junction, luring merchants, travelers, and goods from diverse regions and countries to its vibrant bazaar and the renowned Sa’d al-Saltaneh Caravanserai.
Listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage roster, this caravanserai, nestled adjacent to Qazvin’s traditional bazaar, encompasses a sprawling 6000 square meters. Its square layout features a central courtyard surrounded by four magnificent iwans. Notably, the rooms within the caravanserai are elevated one meter above the courtyard ground level.
