Delgosha Garden is one of the most famous historical and touristic gardens in Shiraz, located in the Delgosha district. Originally built centuries ago as a private garden for the royal families of Shiraz, it gradually became a beloved public attraction.
The garden’s origins date back to the pre-Islamic and Sassanid eras. Interestingly, Timur Gorkani (Tamerlane) ordered the construction of a garden with the same name in Samarkand during his reign.
Delgosha Garden suffered extensive damage during the era of Nader Shah Afshar and the early Zand dynasty. However, it was fully restored during the reign of Karim Khan Zand. Some buildings within the garden belong to the Qajar era, adding layers of historical depth.
At the heart of the garden stands a mansion built in the Sassanid architectural style. This three-story building features two entrance doors on opposite sides. The interior showcases wooden ceilings adorned with exquisite plasterwork, mirror decorations, and oil paintings, making it a true work of art.
In front of the mansion lies a large stone pond, a focal point that draws visitors’ attention. The mansion also houses a museum displaying a fascinating collection of historical artifacts, including coins, traditional clothing, stamps, maps, and a unique assortment of 50 vintage radios, offering an intriguing experience for history enthusiasts.
Delgosha Garden is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., though it occasionally closes for special events or maintenance.
The best time to visit is in mid-spring when the garden is filled with the fragrant scent of orange blossoms, creating a magical atmosphere that captivates visitors’ hearts.
