Eram Garden
Eram Garden is a popular place in Shiraz, Iran. This garden is known as one of the largest, loveliest, and most historical gardens in the country and it is a trendy destination for tourists from all around the world.
Eram Garden is located in the north of Shiraz and covers an area of about 128 hectares. The name “Eram” in Persian means “heaven, ” which shows its beauty and attention-grabbing nature.
Eram Garden has extraordinary parts little gardens with colorful flowers and old trees. This gorgeous and lovely garden must be visited in spring and summer because in these seasons the flowers reach their peak of beauty and fill the environment around them with the color and smell of flowers. History
The history of this garden back to the 10th and 11th centuries AH and belongs to the Seljuk period. Atabak Karachay ordered the construction of this garden. For 75 years, Eram Garden was in the hands of Qashqai elders and they used it as their headquarters, which caused them to build a mansion in this garden. Later, during the time of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar, the main building of Eram Garden was built. The current mansion is on the same plan design in Nasir al-Mulk time. Finally, during Pahlavi’s time, Eram Garden was repaired and handed over to Shiraz University by Pahlavi’s Queen.
Architecture
The architects of this garden had built stairs in some parts to remove the slope from the west to the east. The buildings in this garden can be seen in the western part of it, which includes a main and inner mansion, and has a higher place than other parts of the garden. There is a beautiful pool in front of this garden, and several large stone slabs were used in the construction. Four beautiful palms in four corners of the pool, make it more beautiful and the image of the building can be seen in the pool water.
Eram Garden Mansion
Eram Garden mansion has three floors with a gable roof, and exclusive decorations include plastering, painting, sculpture, iron lattice windows, inlays, and tiling. This mansion is a great example of Qajar-era architecture and art, which was followed by Zandiya and Safavid architecture. In the mansion, there is a museum called “Stones and Gems of the Sea of Noor”, and more than 140 types of precious and rare stones and gems from Iran and different parts of the world are shown in it. The first thing that every eye notices in the mansion is the seven-color tiles on its façade. On the two floors of the mansion, there are columns inspired by Persepolis, which evoke their glory and beauty in the mind.
The passage in the middle of the garden is one of the most attractive parts of this complex, with cypress trees standing out on both sides, and no tourist walks into this place and doesn’t take photos of this beauty.
